A woman seen in a viral surveillance video, which appeared to show her being forcibly pulled away by a man outside a Wichita home, has contacted the police. On Tuesday (October 14), the Wichita Police Department reported that they received a call from the woman, identified as a 35-year-old resident of the area where the video was recorded. The incident occurred early Sunday morning on the 1400 block of North Volusia.

According to the police statement, investigators believe the situation is a case of domestic violence involving the woman's boyfriend. The woman did not sustain any significant injuries. The police arrested a 22-year-old man on charges including aggravated battery strangulation, domestic simple battery, and criminal restraint. The Sedgwick County Office of the District Attorney will decide on formal charges.

The video, recorded around 2 a.m. Sunday, showed the woman being pulled from a doorway while screaming for help. The footage prompted an urgent plea from the police for public assistance, resulting in numerous tips. The police thanked the public for their help in spreading the video, which they believe led the woman to come forward.

Wichita Police Capt. Aaron Moses emphasized that there is no ongoing danger to the public. The case will be presented to the appropriate attorney’s office for further action.
